Jacqui Wearmouth

Already a familiar face to several members of the team, Jacqui brings strong industry experience and a collaborative mindset. We caught up with her to learn more about her journey, her first impressions, and what she hopes to achieve here.

Can you run us through your work history and background?

I spent eleven years at Mobile Mini as an Office Manager/Dispatcher, and during that time I completed all my Transport Manager qualifications. After over a decade there, I felt ready for a new challenge and moved to another company as a Transport Manager, where I worked for two years before deciding it was time for a change in environment and direction.

What brought you to Cleveland?

I wanted something new and different. My previous role involved being on call 24/7, and it never felt like the right environment for me. I stayed in touch with Dawne McClelland, Cleveland’s National Service Centre Manager, who I’d worked closely with for many years. She mentioned a new opportunity within her team, and because I already knew and respected her - as well as several members of the senior leadership team - I felt confident this would be the right move.

I was excited about the chance to work with good people in a company with strong values. I jumped at the opportunity, and it’s absolutely been the right decision.

Can you talk us through your role and who you work with day-to-day?

I work closely with Lucy (Senior Hire Controller), Graham (Hire Controller), and Marie (Hire Controller). Together, we support the hire team operationally from initial enquiries through to delivery and aftercare.

When the hire team are quoting for upcoming projects, they come to us to check unit availability, transport rates, and delivery times. Once a project is won, we coordinate with the sales rep, depots, and hauliers to organise every step of a successful site setup.

For ongoing site requirements - such as tank empties, cleaning, or general maintenance - we arrange this with our trusted third-party partners. If any damage or breakages occur, we action repairs quickly through subcontractors or Cleveland’s growing team of mobile technicians.

We also manage complex, large-scale site setups, like those on solar or wind farms, which often require extra coordination for services such as generators and water cubes. These locations can be remote, so ensuring everything is efficiently arranged is key to supporting our customers’ operations.

The day before every delivery, I contact both the haulier and the customer to confirm timings and plan the most efficient running order for unit arrivals. This is especially important when units are being stacked. If the customer is unsure, I’m able to recommend the best approach based on past experience.

What do you enjoy about working at Cleveland so far?

The National Service Centre is very process-driven, and we’re constantly looking at ways to streamline workflows and improve how we collaborate with other departments. Everyone supports each other - if someone is on holiday, we all pick up what’s needed so no one returns to a mountain of emails or unresolved issues.

Because the NSC is still relatively new, we’re learning and improving all the time. Dawne is incredibly understanding and genuinely listens, which makes a big difference. Communication across departments has strengthened massively, and it feels like the business is becoming more aligned every day.

No two days are ever the same at Cleveland Hire, and that keeps things exciting. The environment, the people, and the culture all contribute to a really positive working atmosphere. The company values new ideas, tries things out, and appreciates the experience each person brings.

What would you like to achieve here?

We’re a new team, and I want us to continue growing stronger together - building our capabilities, improving efficiency, and preparing for the future. The NSC is expanding rapidly, and we can already see that in the increase in staff and workload.

There’s huge potential ahead, especially with larger sites in sectors like wind and solar. It’s also great to see customers now using services across all three of Cleveland’s divisions - a sign that the business is moving in the right direction.

The team has been incredibly supportive, especially in helping me learn the systems. We’ve gelled really well, and each of us brings our own strengths and knowledge to the table.

Tell us a bit more about yourself outside of work.

I have an eight-year-old Border Collie named Jodie and a rescue cat called Sam. I walk the dog three times a day, which keeps us both active. I also love going to concerts and festivals whenever I get the chance.
