Mackenzie Construction – Lock 16 Regeneration Project

Cleveland Hire’s long-running relationship with Mackenzie Construction saw us provide a site set-up to support a regeneration project on the Scottish Canals.

Mackenzie Construction is a leading UK civil engineering contractor with a strong focus on sustainability and people-led delivery. Founded in 1980, the business has built a long-standing reputation for delivering safe, high-quality infrastructure projects across the UK.

In 2024, Cleveland Hire was appointed to deliver a large-scale site accommodation and storage installation for Mackenzie Construction as part of the Scottish Canals regeneration project at Lock 16 on the Forth & Clyde Canal.

The regeneration scheme will transform the former AG Barr factory site in Camelon, Falkirk into a new low-carbon facility on the canal bank, supporting long-term investment in the area and wider sustainability goals.

We provided a comprehensive, turnkey site set-up to support Mackenzie Construction’s operational requirements on site. The installation included a combination of office, catering and storage units, alongside full utility provision to ensure the site was operational from day one.

For this project, we supplied:

Three 32ft Canteens
One 32ft Office
One 32ft Changing Room
Two 20ft Canteens
One 10ft Store
Two 20ft Store
Two Hydroflows
One Effluent Tank
One 3+1 Toilet Block

Cleveland Hire also coordinated full electrical and plumbing installation through trusted specialist partners, including trace heating to all units to ensure year-round functionality. In addition, we continue to manage ongoing site maintenance, including weekly water fills and tank empties, removing operational burden from the site team.

A detailed site survey was carried out ahead of delivery to ensure the layout, access and services were optimised first time. The full installation was delivered on schedule and within budget, providing Mackenzie Construction with a safe, efficient and fully compliant site environment.
